At first glance this may look like your average "mom blog." Okay, probably at second and third glance, too. That’s because it is. I would like to use this space to tell you a little bit about myself and what I plan to on doing with this space.
About me:
I am currently a stay at home mom and really part time substitute teacher. I have three girls, often referred to as "The Crazies," who will provide the bulk of the content for my writing. This is unavoidable since they provide the bulk of the content for my life. Like I said, "mom blog." My girls are 11, 9, and 6. Also in our home, resides my husband, two dogs, one ancient cat, five chickens, two rats, 7 African Clawed frogs, one grey tree frog, and a parrot cichlid.
Resume:
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and an Associates Degree in Medical Laboratory Science. I am still an ASCP certified Medical Laboratory Technician, despite not working in a lab in a little over seven years. In between those two degrees, I worked as a veterinary assistant for eight years. Science and medicine are a passion of mine and will likely work their way into every conversation. Also, as I mentioned above, I am currently a licensed substitute teacher.
Hobbies:
Have you ever heard the saying, "It is better to be great at something than to be okay at everything?" This is NOT me with hobbies. I rarely spend enough time on a hobby to get really good at it. I hope sharing some of my hobby adventures here will give me motivation to grow some of them into something somewhat respectable. Cooking is a hobby of necessity (again, mom blog). We garden and try to utilize as much of our homegrown organic food as we can. Crafting also goes with the territory. I have a Cricut that I have had for two years, and I am still learning how to use. I enjoy wood burning and painting. I have everything I need to attempt glass etching, but I haven't even opened any of it yet. I have been crocheting since I was seven, but I still can't read a pattern. I also love to sew, but my skills are limited. My favorite and most practiced hobby is READING! This will most likely work its way into every conversation, as well.
Why a Blog?
Simple. Why not?
After spending a decade of my life spending most of my time communicating with tiny crazies, the desire grows for an audience of grown ups. Even if that is an imaginary audience on the internet. However, I have a few friends who have promised to be regular readers, so a small audience is better than an imaginary one.
A note to my readers:
If you have made it this far, I must be at least mildly entertaining to you. If so, please subscribe. This blog is very new to me, and it will probably end up being my babbling and venting playground if you do not help me out. Feel free to leave me a comment for suggested content. I am always willing to share my thoughts on any topic. I just can't promise you'll agree.
Thanks for reading!
